Amy Tan’s “Mother Tongue” is a story about the experiences of a non-English speaking parent living in the United States. Having to deal with society’s unwarranted dislike of non-English speakers, Tan helps her mother out by being her translator and speaking on her behalf at a young age. Tan uses Pathos, and Ethos to help support her story and keep the reader intrigued.
